Michelle Cope
Michelle is a qualified solicitor and part of the duty solicitor scheme. Michelle specialises in criminal and military defence law. Her cases have covered a wide range of offences, including murder, offences against the person, sexual offences, dishonesty and fraud offences including benefit fraud, motoring matters and military offences. Michelle has represented a range of clients, including police officers, across an array of both criminal proceedings and internal misconduct proceedings.
Prior to qualifying as a solicitor Michelle worked in New Orleans, Louisiana where she worked on death penalty appeals cases at the Centre for Equal Justice. On her return to the UK, Michelle joined a Human Rights and Prison Law Department for a large Northwest England law firm where she specialised in prison law.
Together with her colleague Matthew George, Michelle has developed this firm’s Prison Law Department and is regularly instructed to make representations in relation to Licence Recall, Parole and Adjudication hearings.
